I'm Cold & Hungry!
It’s unseasonably chilly in Townsville at the moment. Crikey it has even gotten below 20degress,
which means it is FREEZING!
For some reason this cold snap is making me hungry. So hungry I could eat a leg off of a horse -
especially if that leg was dipped in chocolate and came with a serving of large
fries.
Fries.....hhhhhhhhhmmmmmmm, yummy warm, salty fries ....
Sorry I digress....
One of my greatest struggles during my weight loss journey
as been to break old, deeply ingrained habits.
Daily I fight inner demons that tell me it’s ok to have a chocolate, a
piece of cake or a burger and fries. It
is the same demons that tell me it’s too hot or cold to train.
Slowly I’m breaking these old habits. I’ve done this with a combination of learned
knowledge about nutrition and training, but also with a few sneaky mind games.
The golden arches may beckon post workout, but it’s harder
to get there if you are in the far lane.
Chocolate can’t be consumed if it isn’t in the house. My fitness pal is
an amazing tool to make me think twice about a piece of cake.
Yet every now and then these mind games fail and I succumb
and buy these bad foods. Twelve months
ago I would have used this as an excuse to pack it in for the week and go on a
major binge. Now I just pick myself up
and make the next meal super, super healthy and go for an extra walk/run.
I’m not entirely cured yet, but I’m learning that it takes
time to break these habits. The key is
consistency and not to be too hard on myself when I do indulge.
Recognising that I am a work in progress has been the
greatest piece of knowledge I’ve learnt so far.

Exactly, it's about winning the war despite the loss of a battle.
