Lessons From Bali

Bintangs, massages, elephant rides & shopping aside, my time in Bali has had a profound effect on me.  So much so that I’ve been a daze since I returned, unable to do housework, exercise, garden.  Instead I’ve been content to just be ... well me.

I didn’t really know what to expect of my Bali Thrive Retreat  (www.thriveretreat.com.au), but what I did know was that I desperately needed some time to reassess certain aspects of my life, to work on my self esteem & to re-charge my batteries.
I was anxious that I may end up a blubbering psychotic mess, but luckily for me our group consisted of some amazing women & was wonderfully led by two highly dedicated professionals.

As a result I have now developed a love of & yearning for yoga & am working on ways to incorporate it into my daily life.  I’ve also learnt that meditation can be a powerful healing & life tool.  I also had the opportunity to learn about Mindfulness & am trying to incorporate this into so much more of my everyday life.
The biggest thing to come from my time in Bali is the realisation of the following:
·         I have knowledge (and I can share this with people)
·         I am caring
·         I can be all I want to be
·         I don’t need your approval
·         I have value
·         I am thankful
·         I am me
·         I am loved
And most importantly:
I AM WORTHY!
I wrote the following affirmation in my journal on my return home:

This is my life, not yours, I am who I am.  I may not be skinny, stylish, beautiful, fast, athletic, a scholar or a musician.  I am me & I am worthy of being me – yesterday, today & tomorrow.  By being me I will grow & flourish, giving of myself to the only people who matter – my children & my darling husband.  xxxx
